Massachusetts Crocs Stores Have an Offer for Your Old Crocs
How old, ratty, smelly and gross are your old favorite pair of Crocs? Before you toss them in the trash, consider that Crocs Inc. wants your old shoes back and will pay you for them.
Sort of.
Crocs were first introduced in 2002 and are as popular as ever – with those who wear Crocs, of course. Crocs are not everyone's cup of tea, though those who love them, love them.
I bought my first pair of Crocs in 2022 and have several pairs now. I especially like the fur-lined Crocs I wear with thick socks in the winter.
At first, I thought Crocs were ugly and could never imagine wearing them. Times have changed and many of us have become more casual in the way we dress. As we get older, we tend to be less concerned about what others think about what we wear anyway.
My attitude is: if you don't like my Crocs, don't look at my feet.
According to the official Crocs website, the company has sold over 700 million pairs of shoes in over 90 countries, with more than a billion dollars in annual sales.
Somebody likes these things.
Crocs Inc. uses bio-based Croslite in its product and promises to be Net-Zero by 2030. Crocs claims that at "3.94 kg C02 per pair of Classic Clogs, Crocs has a low C02 footprint compared to many other iconic footwear styles."
The company also recycles.
To that end, Crocs Inc. is asking you to return your "well-loved," "gently used" or "out-grown" Crocs to the Crocs stores at Faneuil Hall in Boston and the Premium Outlets in Wrentham.
As part of the "Old Crocs. New Life" promotion, all Crocs retail and outlet stores in the United States, excluding Hawaii and Puerto Rico, "are now equipped with designated collection boxes for fans to drop off Crocs shoes in any condition."
The company says, "Each participant will receive a one-time 10% discount on Crocs products, in-store or online."
Crocs are sold at several shoe and sporting goods stores, but a company official said most are not participating in the promotion. Rhode Island has no Crocs retail or outlet stores, but you can request a "no-cost mail back kit" to send in shoes and receive the discount.
