A financial backer of the Center for Alternative Life or "CALM" is withdrawing the more than one million dollars in support for a medical marijuana dispensary in New Bedford.

New England Treatment Access, which is the non profit linked with CALM, says that the decision was made because of difficulties with zoning in New Bedford. They are going foward with dispensaries in Northampton and Brookline.

CALM Treasurer Dawn Blake Sousa says she blames Mayor Mitchell's tough positions on medical marijuana for NETA's decision. CALM is looking to join forces with another Massachusetts applicant in hopes it can still be involved in establishing a dispensary in the city.

Meanwhile, the Mayor says he has met with two other prospective dispensaries about operating in the city.
