Man Shot In Head During Robbery Attempt

New Bedford Police say a robbery attempt lead to an early morning shooting.

Detective Captain Steve Vicente says that at around 2 a.m. Monday a group of friends were walking home from an establishment when they were approached by 2 to 3 men near Tallman St. and Acushnet Ave.

Vicente says the men allegedly tried to rob the group of friends when a struggle broke out.

Shots were fired and one man from the group of friends was grazed in the head by a bullet while another bullet hit a nearby parked car.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
