FALL RIVER — Police in Fall River are investigating a shooting on Monday night that injured a 37-year-old man.

Fall River police spokesman Sgt. Moses Pereira said officers responded to a shots fired call near Pittman Street at around 10:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2.

They arrived to find the male victim with gunshot wounds on his left side, according to Pereira.

Pereira said the man was awake and conscious of his surroundings at the time.

He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford for medical treatment, and has since been released.

The victim is not being identified.

Fall River police department's major crimes division is investigating the shooting.
