Police say a man riding a motorized scooter in Fall River has died after losing control and crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

Lt. Paul Santos tells The Herald News the preliminary investigation shows that the man was traveling north on South Main Street just after 5 p.m. Sunday when he apparently lost control swerved into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The scooter operator was taken to Rhode island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name has not been made public pending notification of family.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The death remains under investigation.
