Every Cook Should Own Make It Ahead! [REVIEW]
I was so excited to learn that WBSM's Phil Paleologos would be interviewing Ina Garten about her latest Barefoot Contessa Cookbook entitled, Make It Ahead on his Midday Magazine radio program.
Ms. Garten is one of my all time favorite cooks! I watch her show Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network and I own most of her cookbooks. My husband thinks I am obsessed about cooking shows and owning cookbooks. I feel I am honing my craft so I am comfortable with my "obsession."
Ina Garten didn't disappoint me with her latest book. I have always tried to plan ahead for the meals for the week but sometimes it is hard to keep ahead of the game. Ms. Garten truly makes my life easier with her note "Make It Ahead" near the bottom of the every page.
My husband loves Chicken Pot Pie from scratch. I usually make them the day I serve them because my crust becomes a soggy mess when I freeze the pies. Obviously, I don't know how to freeze them properly because the crust becomes mushy and unappetizing after defrosting and baking them. Therfore, I am anxious to make Ina's French Chicken Pot Pies (98) to see if the crust is flakey and light.
However, let's not forget the many other recipes in this cookbook. Doesn't "Baked Plenta with Mushrooms and Blue Cheese" (174) sound delicious? I can't wait to make every single recipe! I know where I am going to be on my days off from work. Do you?
