Lt. Gov. Polito Generates More Campaign Cash than Gov. Baker
BOSTON (AP) - Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito is outpacing Gov. Charlie Baker when it comes to raking in campaign cash.
Polito pulled in more donations than Baker in five of the first six months of 2019.
As of June 30, Polito reported having more than $1 million in cash in her campaign account, compared to $728,000 for Baker. That's according to numbers released by the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
In June alone, Polito pulled in about $257,000 to Baker's $155,000. The lieutenant governor hasn't publicly addressed any future political plans while Baker is mulling a possible run for a third term.
The two Republicans aren't the only ones stockpiling campaign dollars.
Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey reported raising $1.2 million as of June 30 and Democratic Boston Mayor Marty Walsh $3.6 million.
