The city's veteran's agent and Iraq War veteran Chris Gomes acknowledged the work of Vietnam vets making sure every service member receives a warm welcome home.

The ceremony also honored individuals for their work in recognizing veterans.

Mayor Jon Mitchell was honored for the city's successful Veteran's Day parade, City Councilor Joe Lopes was awarded for his initiative to give out challenge coins to Vietnam veterans last fall, and Colonel Grace Regan was honored for her work on the military women's memorial dedicated last summer at Fort Taber/Fort Rodman.
