Two bond bills soon heading to the House and Senate contain plenty of local provisions.

State Rep. Antonio Cabral has requested nearly $15 million dollars in the Transportation Bond Bill for rail, vehicle traffic, and pedestrian improvements in and around the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal Project.

Cabral tells WBSM News it's important to enhance that project as much as possible.

Also included in the General Government Bond Bill is a nearly $4 million request for improvements to the Orpheum Theater, the former Thompson Street School building, and the Dennison Memorial Community Center.

The $12.5 billion Transportation Bond Bill and the $1.1 billion General Government Bond Bill have been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
