Loaded Gun and Drugs Seized, Six Arrested in New Bedford Crime Sweep
NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police have arrested six people after an investigation into street-level drug activity in the city's West End.
The crime sweep netted 100 grams of marijuana, a small amount of cocaine, a loaded 9mm Jiminez Arms handgun, 107 pills, digital scales, packaging materials, and $170 in cash.
Five New Bedford residents and one Middleboro man have been arrested on a variety of charges:
- Aries Ross, 22, of 600 Cottage St., Apt. 3, New Bedford, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property valued over $250.
- Dejon T. DePina, 18, of 69 Sycamore St., New Bedford, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
- Taejahn James Williams, 20, of 242 Austin St., Apt. 2, New Bedford, possession of class B substance.
- Devin D. Nickerson, 21, of 59 Everett St. Apt. 1, Middleboro, possession of class B substance (Percocet) with intent to distribute.
- Marcell Michael Gonsalves, 20, 25 Dudley St. Apt. 3, New Bedford, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
- Nyel Villaneva, 19, 600 Cottage St., New Bedford, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, four warrants.
