The New Bedford Licensing Board handed down suspensions against seven liquor establishments.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the suspensions were given after two separate investigations, in October and December of 2014, determined that the businesses opened before 11:00 a.m. on Sundays in violation of their licenses.

The following establishments received four day suspensions: Park Sports Cafe at 329 Rivet Street, Club Faialense located at 701 Orchard Street, Portuguese Sports Club located at 56 Delano Street, Isla Verde Café located at 85 Delano Street, Whaling City Club located at 447 Belleville Avenue, and Club Recordacoes loacted 249 Coggeshall Street.

Vicente says The Monte Pio Club, located at 540 Orchard Street, was given a ten day suspension because they ignored prior warnings from the board.

The suspensions will take place in sometime in April, pending any appeals, and the establishments have also been placed on a one year probation.
