A trial date has been set for Thomas Latanowich, the man accused of shooting and killing Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon in 2018.

Barnstable Superior Court Judge Kathe Tuttman scheduled the trial for August 2, 2021, but where the trial will be held is still to be determined, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Latanowich’s attorney, Joseph Krowski, has argued his client will not receive a fair trial if it takes place on the Cape and has requested a change of venue. His client has an extensive criminal history, collecting 111 charges throughout his life, mostly pertaining to drugs and weapons. Judge Tuttman has yet to rule on whether or not she will grant the request.

Latanowich, 30, is accused of shooting and killing Ganon in the Cape Cod town of Marston Mills. Gannon, a New Bedford native, and his K-9 Nero, were both a part of the team of officers who were tasked with attempting to serve a warrant for Latanowich’s arrest.
