Jessica Moran, who covers the Boston Red Sox for Comcast SportsNet, has announced her resignation from the station, as questions about the nature of her relationship with Boston's Skipper John Farrell have surfaced in recent days.

The Boston Globe initially broke the news, after confirming Moran's departure via text:

“I have stepped away from Comcast SportsNet as I thought it was in my best personal and professional interest to do so,” Moran wrote in a text to the Globe. “They have been extremely supportive during my tenure at the network — and with this decision — and I am very appreciative of that.”

When asked to comment on the nature of his relationship with Moran, Farrell stayed mum but did explain that he and his wife, Sue, are in the midst of a divorce.

Moran, of course, is not the first female reporter covering the team to find herself out of a job after rumors of a relationship with a member of the club.

Former NESN reporter Jenny Dell, who covered the Sox as a sideline reporter, was reassigned by the network following the announcement of her romantic relationship with form Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks.

Dell was first given a reduced role at NESN and has since left the station to work as a sideline reporter for CBS.

There is also Heidi Watney, who was rumored to have had romantic relationships with both former Red Sox captain Jason Varitek and former Boston shortstop Nick Green.

Watney is now a reporter for MLB Network.

To cap it all off, former Red Sox sideline reporter Tina Cervasio also has faced allegations of having a romantic relationship with Varitek, while she was working around the team.
