J.D. Vance to Headline $250K Massachusetts Fundraiser
Vice President J.D. Vance is coming to Massachusetts next month. The Hillbilly Elegy author will attend a fundraising dinner to benefit the Republican National Committee on Nantucket, Tuesday, July 22.
Journalist, political commentator, author and founder of the interactive media platform 2WAY Mark Halperin first broke the news of the Vance visit in a post to X. Halperin posted, "Even by the standards of Nantucket, this is an expensive dinner w/@JD Vance for the @GOP."
How Much Does a Seat at the Table Cost?
According to an invitation Halperin posted to X, it will cost a couple $250,000 to serve on the host committee. Dining with the veep will cost a mere $100,000 per couple.
Who’s Hosting the Nantucket GOP Fundraiser?
The event will reportedly be hosted by former Putnam Investment Management LLC CEO Bob Reynolds and his wife Laura Reynolds, along with Dave Kelsey and Ozzie Palombo.
Bloomberg reported, "The price tag for the event shows how high Vance's political star has risen in a short time. He also attended a Nantucket fundraiser in 2022 hosted by Reynolds when he was running for Senate in Ohio."
"Tickets for that event were $2,500," according to Bloomberg.
Republicans Eye 2026 With Big Fundraising Push
The Republican Party holds a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives and Senate and is looking to expand its numbers in the 2026 midterm elections. President Donald Trump lost 40 House seats in the 2018 midterm elections during his first term.
Event Location and Guest List Remain Private
The Nantucket Current reported the fundraiser will be held at a private residence. Further details, including the location and the guest list, are being kept under wraps for the time being.
