No one ever wants to find themselves in the hospital, but luckily we live in the right spot when we do.

For years Boston hospitals have been known as some of the best in America, but earlier this year both Mass General and Brigham and Women's found themselves at the top of Newsweek's list for Best Hospitals in the World.

With over 6,000 hospitals in America alone, landing Top 20 for medical care in the world is pretty impressive. Now comes word that even closer to home, the hospitals are top-notch.

U.S. News and World Report has put out their annual hospital rankings too, letting readers know how their local hospitals compare with each other.

SouthCoast Health's Winning Hospitals

No surprise that in Massachusetts Mass General and Brigham and Women's rank near the top, but what is surprising is the list that SouthCoast hospitals topped.

Together Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and Tobey Hospital in Wareham make up SouthCoast Health. And although SouthCoast Health is clearly spread across southern Massachusetts, these three hospitals find themselves at #1 on the Best Hospitals near Providence list.

That must mean for anyone living in Rhode Island, coming to the SouthCoast for healthcare just might be the better bet.

What Makes SouthCoast Health So Great

U.S. News and World Report found that SouthCoast Health had more high performing procedures and better patient experience scores than any other hospital in Rhode Island, making Massachusetts hospitals the best in two states instead of one.
