
New Bedford Eversource Workers Injured During Equipment Mishap
While 2025 has been a relatively quiet year here on the SouthCoast for damaging storms, there was an unexpected incident this morning involving the region’s power company.
Eversource workers were involved in an injury causing situation that resulted in more than a thousand customers losing power in the South End of New Bedford.
Eversource Workers Injured in South End Incident
Calls started coming into the Fun 107 studio shortly after 8 o’clock. Some listeners were wondering about what was causing heavy gridlock traffic in the area, while others were concerned that something more serious was happening.
One caller mentioned seeing multiple emergency vehicles and Eversource trucks in the general area of Cisco Kitchen and Bar in New Bedford.
“I think there was a serious incident down here,” she said. “It looks like some Eversource workers got hurt.”
Eversource Confirms Workers Were Injured
A spokesperson for Eversource confirmed to Fun 107 that several workers were injured while preparing equipment for scheduled work to be completed on Saturday.
“We had crews in the area making preparations for routine work tomorrow when there was an incident involving a piece of equipment. We can confirm that three Eversource workers were injured in the incident and were transported for medical care,” said Sarah Paduano from Eversource.
She added that power has now been restored to everyone who lost it.
“Our crews worked as quickly and safely as possible to repair the damage and have since restored power to the 1347 customers who were impacted.”
Worker Conditions Not Yet Released
Eversource did not share updates regarding the workers’ medical conditions or where they were transported for treatment. More information may be available as the situation develops.
