It seems as though celebrity sightings happen quite frequently here on the SouthCoast area. From presidential vacations on Martha's Vineyard to filming at nearby locations in Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, Nantucket and more, residents have been capturing celebrity run-ins for years.

Now, there's another famous face making the rounds: Bill Murray.

"Bill Murray sightings and selfies have created an underground lore in the New Bedford area. He definitely brings a little magic wherever he's spotted. That spark is what inspired us to bring his iconic films to the big screen at The Zeiterion," The Z's Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Penny Pimentel said.

The Inspiration Behind The Z's Bill Murray Marathon

Yes, he's been spotted on the SouthCoast before, but never quite like this. The Zeiterion is promoting its Bill Murray Movie Monday Marathon by taking a cardboard cutout of Murray on a tour across the area.

"The goal has been to surprise people, spark conversations, and celebrate the nostalgia and humor associated with Bill Murray's iconic film career," Pimentel said. "The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with businesses embracing the fun and fans enjoying the unexpected appearances."

The five-Monday series begins Monday, August 3, with the 1991 film What About Bob? and continues with four more Murray classics.

Where Has Cutout Bill Been Spotted Around New Bedford?

"He's visited Record High's new location on Union Street, where the owner proudly displayed the Ghostbusters soundtrack on vinyl. At Whaling City Tattoo, he took a seat in the chair and considered getting some ink," Pimentel said. "He's mingled with the staff at BesTeas and the National Club. He posed in front of DATMA's rooster sculpture outside the downtown YMCA. He even visited Izzy's Cape Verdean Restaurant and got behind the counter with Izzy herself."

"Come see one of his films, and you can take a picture with our Bill Murray cutout in the lobby of The Z," Pimentel said.
