Iran has released the ten American sailors it detained yesterday.

Iranian state-run TV confirmed this morning that the nine men and one woman had been released, although there's been no official word out of Washington yet.

The sailors were in two small boats traveling from Kuwait to Bahrain when they were detained by Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

There's been some speculation the boats might have had mechanical problems or ran out of fuel when they strayed into Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf.

The capture of the sailors came just days before the deal on Iran's nuclear program is due to take effect.

It calls for the lifting of economic sanctions in exchange for Iran ending its nuclear development program.
