A general alarm fire early Saturday in Fall River destroys a 130 year old vacant mill building.

The structure is located at Weaver and West Streets in Fall River, and is believed to have been part of the Border City Mills complex that dates back to the 1880's. In more recent years, the building was home to Harvery Probber Furniture Manufacturing.

According to the Herald News, firefighters arriving on-scene found fire shooting out of several second floor windows, and within a few minutes the entire five story structure was ablaze.

Deputy Fire Chief John Lynch says the alarm came in around 3am.  At one point, Lynch says it was determined to let the mill building go, and instead hose down surrounding buildings to keep them from catching fire.

There were no injuries reported.  By 9:30am, the mill building was reduced to rubble.

The fire is being investigated by the Fall River Fire Department, City Police, and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
