Healthcare.gov Discussed in the House

Republicans on a House panel looking into the government's troubled health insurance website say the problems reflect deeper flaws in the Affordable Care Act.

At a hearing today, they're accusing administration officials of misleading Congress with repeated assurances that the roll out of the new health care law is on track.

Republican Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania says, "The American people deserve something that works, or start over."

Democrats are acknowledging the website problems but defending the law itself. They say Republicans are trying to sabotage the law instead of fixing it. Democrat Frank Pallone of New Jersey says, "Republicans don't have clean hands coming here."

Lawmakers are hearing from the principal contractors responsible for the health insurance website. Executives of CGI Federal, which built the site, and QSI, which designed the part that verifies applicants' income and other personal details, are testifying. They say the Obama administration shares responsibility for the snags that have crippled the system.
