Gun advocates will be having another rally at the State House on Saturday afternoon in protest of Attorney General Maura Healey's crackdown on what she calls "copycat" assault style weapons.

Jim Wallace, the Executive Director of the Gun Owners Action League, tells WBSM's Brian Thomas that Healey overstepped her authority and undertook an action which is an attack on family owned businesses.

"This is an outright attack on lawful families," said Wallace "their family businesses that just don't meet her political agenda and basically what she did was surprise attack everybody, throw a political bomb in their laps, and then go down to Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention."

Wallace says that the rally will be a way to put pressure on legislators who seem unwilling to quick action on the gun ban.

"The Legislature's trying to say 'this takes forever' but people have to remember that they actually passed, just a few months ago, what's called the 'upskirting bill' in just one day," said Wallace "so if they want to fix this thing, they can fix this thing."

Healey defended her actions telling the Boston Herald the move is within the purview and power of her office and that, while it may ultimately be up to a court to decide, she feels comfortable with the decision.

Former Attorneys General Martha Coakley, Thomas Reilly, Scott Harshbarger, James Shannon and Francis Bellotti released a statement to the Associated Press saying that Healey's actions were "constitutional, lawful, and consistent with the duties and responsibilities of her office."

Rally goes from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
