Governor Patrick says the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah have no right to build a casino on Martha's Vineyard. On Tuesday the tribe announced it had a legal opinion from federal officials giving the OK for a casino on their land in Gay Head. The opinion cites the Indian Gaming Act of 1988. On Wednesday, Patrick's legal counsel wrote that the tribe agreed two decades ago to abide by state law, and can't open a casino without a permit. A lawyer for the town of Aquinnah has reached the same conclusion.
