Republican candidate for governor Charlie Baker is faulting Democratic rival Martha Coakley for flubbing a question on the state gas tax.

Asked to name the gas tax during an interview on WCVB-TV, Coakley said ``10 cents.'' The tax is 24 cents per gallon.

Coakley has said she opposes a ballot question which would repeal a law automatically linking future hikes in the tax to inflation.

Baker said it ``is a little scary'' that Coakley, who as attorney general had to certify the ballot question, would be so far off when asked how much the gas tax is _ particularly given that she supports future increases.

Coakley's campaign said very few people get 100 percent of pop quiz questions right and that she knows the gas tax is a critical funding source for state transportation projects.
