MCAS scores at the Global Learning Charter Public School in New Bedford improved the most ever in school history.

The state had placed the charter school on probation, and had given the administration through next year to improve academic achievement. Executive Director Steven Furtado will now ask the Education Commissioner to lift the probation.

Furtado tells WBSM News, the MCAS numbers are staggering....

Furtado says educators were able to target students who needed help and work with them both during the school day and after-school to improve their scores.

That work enabled Global Learning to go from a level three school to level two.
