Getaway Driver Given 40 Year Sentence For Murder of Gas Station Manager
Jose Santiago of Springfield was sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in the 2010 robbery of a Rhode Island gas station manager David Main. According to court documents Main was shot to death at close range and robbed by Jason Pleau of Providence as Main was making a deposit of thousands of dollars owned by the gas station. Santiago was the driver of a box truck used as a getaway vehicle parked a block away from where the murder was committed by Pleau, Santiago will serve 40 years in prison as well as five years of supervised release upon completion of his term.
Co-defendant Kelly Lajoie will be sentenced on February 19th for aiding and abetting.
