Front End Loader Hits Utility Pole And Hydrant

The operator of a front end loader lost control of the vehicle Thursday afternoon, striking a fire hydrant and utility pole in the vicinity of Route 140 and Kempton Street in New Bedford.

D-P-I Commissioner Ron Labelle says the front end loader's hydraulic hose apparently snapped, causing the operator to lose control.....

Labelle says NSTAR crews responded quickly and straightened the pole.

Traffic was backed up in that area while public safety and utility crews responded.
