Freetown K9 Helps Police Find Drugs in Suspicious Vehicle

FREETOWN — A Freetown K-9 is credited with helping police find a number of drugs in a suspicious vehicle in the town.

Freetown Police say they received a report of a suspicious black pickup truck that was parked behind Prime Express on Mason Road at around 5:57 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7.

Officer Nicholas Drinkwine responded to the scene and encountered the man as he exited his vehicle. K-9 Officer Thomas Long and K-9 Koda were called to the scene to assist.

During the investigation, Koda performed a narcotic sniff of the vehicle, and alerted Officer Long when she picked up a scent. Koda led police to the discovery of white powder, believed to be cocaine, along with 32 pills, Suboxone, $426 in cash, scales, a pill cutter, four cell phones, plastic baggies, and a large double-edged knife.

Police arrested the driver of the truck, Ryan Reynolds of 215 Middleboro Road, East Freetown. Reynolds is charged with possession of a Class B substance, possession of a Class E substance, possession with intent to distribute a Class E substance, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
