Former Patriot Matt Light Helps Local Organization

The Greater New Bedford Boys and Girls Club celebrated its biggest event of the year Monday night with a special guest. Recently retired New England Patriot Matt Light delivered the keynote speech at the 18th annual Steak and Burger fundraiser, which brings in thousands of dollars each year to help the Club's youth programs. Light tells WBSM News, the event is a special one for him.

For the fourth year in a row, Light awarded two scholarships to local high school seniors in memory of Dan Pires, the late Standard-Times sports reporter who passed away in 2008. The recipients of the $500 awards were Paulo Tavares and Meaghan Quinlan.
