The much-anticipated Festiva Buffet in Fairhaven has received the green light from the town to open for business.

The Chinese buffet restaurant got the official word today, and will open their doors to the public on Monday.

Fairhaven area residents have been wondering for weeks when the restaurant would finally open and what caused the delay.

The restaurant had initially been set to open weeks ago, thinking it had obtained all necessary permits. However, a final fire inspection uncovered a larger than expected room capacity for the building, causing the fire department to put the project on hold.

Festiva owners were told that due to the larger than expected capacity, an additional fire door was required to be installed. Ownership needed to reconnect with their building engineer and construct a fire door before obtaining approval from the fire department.

The fire door has now been built, and the fire department has reportedly given Festiva approval to open.

Festiva owners have told us that their first official day open will be this coming Monday.
