Over $6,000 worth of fentanyl is seized by New Bedford Police after a traffic stop Tuesday evening.

Police say members of the Police Department's Narcotics Unit stopped a vehicle at Allen Street and Rockdale Avenue before 7pm Tuesday after receiving information that the driver was dealing fentanyl in the city. Police searched the vehicle and found a hidden compartment containing 66 grams of fentanyl and $180 in cash.

Police arrested the driver, 21-year-old Christian Castellano of Providence. Castellano is charged with trafficking in fentanyl and trafficking a Class B substance near a park.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $6,600.
