Federal Inmate From Fall River Pleads Guilty To Escape Charges
A Fall River man plead guilty on Monday to charges that he escaped from a federal facility.
United States Attorney Carmen Ortiz says that 30-year-old Jason Barreto was sentenced to 70 months in prison following his conviction in September 2011 in Rhode Island District Court on one count of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone.
Barreto was transferred from the U.S. Penitentiary Big Sandy in Kentucky to the Coolidge House Residential Reentry Center in Boston on May 21, 2015 so he could serve out the remainder of his sentence there.
His scheduled release date was Nov. 1, 2015.
Following an incident at the Coolidge House on Sept. 17, 2015, Barreto walked out of the facility without authorization and didn't return.
The U.S. Marshals Service received information regarding his location and arrested him at Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.
Barreto is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 22.
