FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Westport woman and an Acushnet man were seriously injured after being hit by a truck on the Braga Bridge in Fall River on Wednesday.

Multiple outlets report that a 62-year-old unidentified male and a 29-year-old Stefanie Cabral were both hit by a truck driven by a 30-year-old male from New Bedford.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning when the male victim crashed into a Jersey barrier on the bridge on the I-195 westbound lane.

Authorities said Cabral saw the man and exited her vehicle to help him by dialing 911.

Both Cabral and the victim then saw a truck driving towards them and tried to exit the area.

The truck crashed into one of their cars and hit both Cabral and the male victim.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Cabral and the male victim were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with “serious injuries.” The driver was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Cabral, the male victim and the driver are all expected to make a full recovery.

The driver that hit Cabral and the male victim was issued a criminal summons for motor-vehicle related offenses, according to state police.

The name of the driver has not been released at this time.
