FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police recently arrested a city man and charged him with multiple gun and narcotics offenses after he was allegedly involved in a drug deal and carrying a firearm with a defaced serial number.

Details of the Third Street Search Warrant

According to a police Facebook post, detectives from the Community Action and Suppression Team executed a search warrant on June 4 on the 500 block of Third Street. The target of the warrant was Clarence Mendes, 46.

Police said that detectives observed Mendes allegedly conducting a hand-to-hand drug transaction with a vehicle parked outside of his residence. They approached the vehicle and detained both individuals, and then executed the search warrant.

Ghost Gun and $60,000 Cash Seized

The search turned up 22.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a Polymer 80 9mm handgun with no serial number, a large capacity feeding device, 15 rounds of ammunition, and over $60,000 in cash.

Mendes was arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a large capacity firearm (two counts), possession of a firearm without an FID card (subsequent offense), possessing ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, firearm violation with a prior violent/drug crime, receiving an untraceable firearm, possessing an untraceable firearm in the commission of a felony, distributing a Class B drug (subsequent offense), and cocaine trafficking (18 grams or more but less than 36 grams).

Police said the investigation is active and ongoing.
