FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Authorities are investigating a homicide that took place this afternoon in Fall River.

According to Fall River Police, officers responded to a residence in the 900-block of Rodman Street this afternoon after receiving a 911 call reporting a young man had been shot inside. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to a nearby trauma center, where he was pronounced deceased.

“A family member was taken into custody in connection with the incident, which remains under active investigation,” police said in a Facebook post. “At this time, it appears to be an isolated event, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.”

Neither the name of the victim nor the person taken into custody has been released.

The homicide remains under investigation by Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office homicide prosecutors.
