As the Patriots count down the minutes to their first meaningful postseason game in years, fans are willing to pull out all the stops to make sure the team gets every possible advantage.

Enter the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had a miraculous win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football this week, clinching the AFC North and a spot in the playoffs.

Did God Get Involved in the Steelers Big Win?

No one can say for sure, but there are some interesting circumstances at play before kickoff that left fans from both teams wondering if higher powers had a hand in the shocking Pittsburgh win. According to ESPN SportsCenter, the Steelers brought in a Catholic priest to sprinkle Holy Water around one of the end zones.

Go ahead and scoff at the idea, but the Ravens were certainly not laughing after their kicker Tyler Loop missed what would have been a game-winning field goal as time expired. The kick went wide right, sailing over the very same damp spot where the priest had spread the Holy Water earlier. If you look closely at the video, you can see a Pittsburgh fan holding "John 3:16" on yellow poster board.

It begs the question: if God is a Steelers fan, could He also be a Patriots fan?

Fall River Priest Weighs In

“No, I do not believe so,” said Father Bob from Holy Trinity Church in Fall River. “I think He might be more of a Saints fan. I think He is pretty disappointed this year that the Saints did not come through for Him.”

Why Father Bob Is Not Praying for the Patriots

Will Father Bob be praying for the Pats this week? The answer is no.

“I prayed for them for the first three games this season, but they lost two of their first three, so I stopped,” he said. “That kicked off their 10-game win streak, so I have vowed not to pray for them for the rest of the season.”

If Drake Maye and the Patriots can pull off a Wild Card win this Sunday night, we’ll know which priest in Fall River we should be thanking.
