Fall River Police Arrest Unregistered Sex Offender With Stolen Gun
FALL RIVER — Fall River police have arrested a city man who failed to register as a sex offender and was allegedly found with a plethora of drugs and a stolen firearm on Friday.
Police said that 52-year-old William Lagrant was arrested after members of the department's vice gang and intelligence unit, emergency services unit, police K-9s and the DEA searched his County Street home on Oct. 8.
Authorities said they found 1,357 grams of suspected marijuana, 151 grams of suspected fentanyl, two suspected oxycodone pills, and $2,203 in cash as well as 37 chocolate bars with psychedelic mushrooms listed among the ingredients.
According to police, detectives also searched a storage container belonging to Lagrant that contained $77,572 in cash, 8,319 grams of marijuana, and a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber firearm, ammunition, and two loaded 14 round magazines.
Police also later learned that the gun had been reported stolen from Pennsylvania.
Among the charges against Lagrant is a charge of failing to register as a sex offender, although it is unclear when or how the status was applied to him.
He has also been charged with possession to distribute class B, C, and D drugs, trafficking 100 grams or more of heroin/morphine/opium, receiving stolen property under $1,200, and multiple firearms offenses, including a firearm violation with three prior violent or drug crimes.
