Fall River Man Among Five Charged with Unemployment Fraud
BOSTON — A Fall River man has been indicted on charges of unemployment fraud.
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey's Office says that Jose Pacheco, 42, of Fall River, was indicted on December 10 on six charges of unemployment fraud and three counts of larceny over $250.
The AG's Office alleges that Pacheco worked during 79 weeks of three unemployment claim periods from January of 2015 to October of 2017. During that time, the AG's Office says Pacheco fraudulently collected more than $40,000 in unemployment benefits from the Department of Unemployment Assistance.
Pacheco will be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on January 16.
Pacheco was one of five individuals charged in recent unemployment fraud cases. The AG's Office is also charging men from Woburn, Boston, Marlborough, and Johnston, Rhode Island.
