FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The man accused of shooting two men to death in Fall River in broad daylight in 2021 was found guilty today of their murders.

Jeremy Holmes of Fall River was found guilty in Bristol County Superior Court of two counts of first degree murder in the shooting deaths of Jovaughn Mills, 29, and Miguel Sanjurjo, 14, both of Fall River.

He was also found guilty of assault with a firearm due to injuring a third person in the shooting, as well as a charge of carrying a firearm without a license.

Holmes is scheduled to be sentenced on January 10, 2025.

He was 18 when he was arrested for the May 18, 2021 daytime double homicide. It occurred a little after 4 p.m. in the area of Griffin Park. Both victims were pronounced deceased following their arrivals at local hospitals.

The third shooting victim, a 19-year-old Fall River man, survived the shooting.

Holmes was initially charged with carrying an illegal firearm, carrying a loaded illegal firearm, and unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm. He later saw the charges upgraded to include the two counts of first degree murder.
