Golfers are wanted to take part in the fourth annual Swing for a Cause Charity Golf Event to support the Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County.

The tournament will take place Monday, October 4 at the Fall River Country Club. Your donations will help the Fall River-based Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol County continue its very important work.

Since 2007, more than 5,000 children and families have come through the doors of the center, seeking to heal from the trauma of sexual abuse and violence.

Co-Director Lara Stone said that even with the COVID-19 pandemic, the work of the CAC never really stopped. The center kept working with children thought to have been sexually abused, as well as counseling families and training law enforcement and families to spot signs of sexual abuse. Stone said their caseload continues to grow, and the money raised through the golf tournament will help the agency continue its mission.

The Children's Advocacy Center also made news this spring with a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of its headquarters building at 58 Arch Street in Fall River. Stone said she and her staff are excited about the changes. The renovations will double their workspace, and should be completed by next spring.
