Fall River City Councilor Jasiel Correia II has announced he's filing a civil lawsuit against Mayor Will Flanagan.

According to the Herald News, Correia made the decision to file suit after meeting with his own legal counsel and special prosecutor William Connolly.

Connolly is leading an independent investigation into Correia's allegations that Mayor Flanagan used a gun to intimidate the young councilor during a late night meeting in August. Correia claims that Flanagan wanted him to tell police he was pressured into signing the recall petition against the mayor.

Correia says he was further prompted to file the suit after Flanagan allegedly placed calls to multiple news outlets, claiming Correia had been pulled over by police for texting and driving and attempted to use his political position to avoid a ticket.
