FAIRHAVEN — Working with the assistance of the New Bedford Police Department, detectives in Fairhaven have arrested two men for numerous crimes.

The men allegedly broke into the Valero gas station on Huttleston Avenue in early morning hours of September 19th. Using surveillance video, police determined the two arrived in a stolen vehicle and attempted to disguise their appearance as they forced their way into the business.  Fairhaven Police report the two men were seen stealing and leaving with a garbage barrel full of cartons of cigarettes.

After investigation, detectives identified the men as Steven Marshall, 47, and Derrick Wiggins, 46.  Both men are apparently homeless.

Marshall and Wiggins were located the following day in a different stolen vehicle in the east lot of the New Bedford Market Basket store. They were arrested at that time and charged with vandalism, receiving stolen property, larceny from a building and breaking and entering in the nighttime to commit a felony.

After being arraigned in 3rd District Court, Wiggens is being held  on $750 bail, and Marshall is being held on $2,500 bail. Both are due back in court in October.
