Every once in a while, the internet delivers a story that feels like it belongs in a SouthCoast rom-com.

I've read a slew of local Reddit threads and Craigslist ads in my time, but this might be one of the most intriguing and precious local “missed connections” I’ve seen in a while, and it all traces back to a class at the Northeast Maritime Institute in Fairhaven.

If I can connect the dots and help this woman find love, then I've done my job.

A Missed Connection at Sea

According to the post, the two met during a lifeboatman training course on July 8, 2024. She said he was tall, had buzzed blonde hair and blue eyes, and dropped the line “it’s all notional” while they were working with a training model.

The woman said she was the only female in the class and immediately noticed the guy, describing him as “absolutely handsome” and clearly intelligent.

She said she was seeing someone else at the time and didn’t give the mystery man her number. Instead, she accidentally gave him the number of her soon-to-be boss while trying to explain where she worked.

Weeks later, after breaking up with that relationship, she said she couldn’t stop thinking about the mysterious maritime colleague of hers. Her biggest regret is that she can’t remember his name.

However, she recalled him saying he had just gotten out of the Marines and wasn’t sure if he wanted to stay in the maritime industry.

SouthCoast Reddit Is Now on the Case

Now she’s turning to social media in hopes the message somehow reaches him.

Her plan: if he sees the post, they’ll exchange photos to confirm they’re the right people and take it from there.

Honestly, I have about a thousand questions.

Did the guy ever call the number she gave him? Did her boss answer? Did he realize something weird had happened?

Listen, if this turns into a Fairhaven love story that sparked from a missed connection, we're going to need an update.
