UPDATE: The Fairhaven man killed in the crash has been identified as George Thatcher. A family in a second vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. More details available in an update here.

FAIRHAVEN — A 59-year-old Fairhaven man has died after a fatal crash on Main Street Sunday evening.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office confirmed the fatality on Monday morning, although the man's identity has not yet been released.

Fairhaven police said the crash took place at around 7 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Main and Hedge streets, which is near Riverside Cemetery and the Oxford village area.

According to unconfirmed scanner reports, the crash involved just one vehicle — and the man was trapped inside.

Further details on the crash and the crash victim are expected later today.
