A Fairhaven man is dead of an apparent drug overdose on a fishing vessel.

New Bedford Police say the 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital Thursday night after being found unresponsive on the fishing vessel Saint Jude that was docked at Pier 3. Police say signs of drug use were found at the scene.

A co-worker on the boat attempted to revive the man with CPR before emergency responders arrived on the scene just after 8:30pm. He was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.

The State Medical Examiner is investigating the death, along with state and local police.
