Better safe than sorry in Fairhaven.

First responders in the town will be wearing additional protective gear as a precautionary measure in the ongoing fight against Ebola.

Fairhaven Police Sergeant Kevin Kobza tells WBSM News the CDC is predicting a very active flu season, and the symptoms of Ebola and the flu are very similar. He says first responders will utilize the protective gear when responding to calls of sick residents.

The additional gear consists of respiratory masks, protective head-to-toe suits, and gloves. The new equipment cost about $1,500.
