Fairhaven Fire Department History
A Fairhaven barber by the name of Louis N. Baudoin played a heavy hand in the beginning of the creation of the Fairhaven firefighters and the original sponsor of a system of fire alarms.
Dating back to the beginning of the town (1887), a society was formed. The Fairhaven Protecting Society were comprised of volunteers who would work hard to save household goods once the firefighters fought the flames.
Now, the Fairhaven Fire Department consists of 31 firefighters and 12 call firefighters. They provide fire prevention, rescue, fire education, EMS and more for the community.
