Fairhaven Firefighter Suddenly Passes Away at 46-Years-Old

FAIRHAVEN — A Fairhaven Firefighter and Paramedic has died.

The Fairhaven Fire Department says 46-year-old Shawn Samanica suddenly passed away while at his home on Monday. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Samanica served for the Fairhaven Fire Department for over 20 years as a firefighter on shift 4. Throughout his career, he was a member of the Local 1555 and the International Association of Firefighters.

Samanica was survived by his daughter, Skylar.

The Fairhaven Fire Department says it offers his family “prayers and our deepest condolences during this very difficult period.”

Funeral arrangements are pending at this time and will be announced by the Department as soon as they are disclosed.
