New Beford is receiving $800,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration to support work at the New Bedford Regional Airport. Its one of 14 grants awarded to Massachusetts airports.

The grant was announced Monday by the Congressional Delegation. Mayor Jon Mitchell is pleased with the Federal assistance.

The money for New Bedford will be used for environmental studies and permitting.

Congressman William Keating says he applauds the FA-A's commitment for making sure municipal airports get the support they need and deserve.
