The company formerly known as NStar is making necessary preparations ahead of Saturday night's snow storm.

Mike Durand, spokesman for Eversource, says though the company name is different, winter storm preparedness is much the same, if not better. Durand tells WBSM News the merger allows the company to bring in help from outside the Southeastern Massachusetts region.

Durand says with colder temperatures, a lighter consistency of snow is expected, which would not stick to tree limbs and power lines as well as heavier snow.

Durand warns customers to stay away from any downed power lines, and to report them by calling 9-1-1. If you experience an outage during the storm, call Eversource at 1-800-592-2000.
