Enjoy Classical Music and Craft Beers This Saturday at Kilburn Mill

Sometimes, you want an elegant evening of classy, classical music. And sometimes, you just want a night of letting loose and sampling some of the best local craft beers around.

Well, the best of both worlds come together this Saturday night at Kilburn Mill with Symphony on Tap. As the NBSO describes it, this event will be “no stage, no seats, no rules—just fun.”

The doors will open at 7 p.m., with free munchies until 8 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., there will be 60 minutes of music performed by 61 musicians from the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. Then, free desserts will be offered from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. You will also have an opportunity to meet the musicians of the NBSO.

And throughout it all, there will be a full cash bar featuring local craft beers provided by Freitas Package Store.

If you’re unfamiliar with most classical music, don’t worry; this performance will definitely feature pieces you know, as well as some that you didn’t know that you know, such as Beethoven’s famous Fifth Symphony, Wagner’s wild “Ride of the Valkyries” (you may recognize it from Apocalypse Now, as Elmer Fudd's "Kill the Wabbit" or as the WWE theme for Daniel Bryan), Stravinsky on fire and a Star Wars finale.

So, grab a beverage, mingle with friends, gather around the orchestra, and enjoy the show.

Symphony on Tap is happening this Saturday, April 13, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Kilburn Mill at Clark’s Cove, located at 127 West Rodney French Boulevard on New Bedford. Parking is available on street or in the parking lot on the south side of the building. The Kilburn Mill event space is located on the third floor and is handicapped accessible.
